Thailand’s national park system announces 2024 annual seasonal closure of attractions

Closing off several attractions at national parks for certain months demonstrates Thailand’s commitment to ensure sustainable environmental management of the country’s valuable nature heritage

Bangkok, 16 January 2024 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) would like to inform local and international travellers that Thailand’s National Park Office, under the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) has started its annual seasonal closure of several attractions for 2024 in 134 of 156 national parks nationwide.

This is normal practice, as Thailand’s national park system closes several attractions every year for a certain period, depending on weather and park conditions. Dates are varied, and the closure is often due to extreme weather, especially during the rainy months, that may create unsafe conditions and allows for some ecological recovery time.
Thailand currently has a total of 156 national parks, including the soon to be announced Jedkod- Pongkonsao National Park in Saraburi.

The following table, based on the Thai-English information provided by the DNP, shows the 2024-2025 closure periods of attractions at national parks per their locations in respective Protected Areas Regional Offices nationwide.

Please find out more about the rules and regulations at each national park before visiting.
