WHERE TO SHOP

Sukhumvit Road Area

The Sukhumvit Road area is the largest tourist district and also the most preferred and frequented area by foreign residents in Bangkok. This road is the business and residence center for foreigners. There are many department stores, hotels, residents, hospitals, apartments, restaurants and international schools. It is very convenient to find imported food, goods, and international cuisine along the road. The sky train service in this area also makes commuting easy and safe. This area also offers a western standard of living and services.







Silom/ Surawongse Road Area

The Silom Road area is the modern business heart of the city. It is convenient for business travelers because the banks and offices of international companies are near and little commuting is needed. Bangkok has a sky train service in this area thus providing a convenience for all travelers. This area offers a western standard of living and services.


Pratunam / Petchaburi Road Area

Pratunam Market is one of Bangkok’s garment districts, and is the place to find wholesale and retail clothing of all kinds at low prices. Opposite Pratunam Market on Petchaburi Road you will find Hi – tech goods at Pantip plaza. Numerous shops here offer computers, CD-rom, books, hardware and software goods, and many other items for the shopper.


Siam Square Area
The Siam Square Area is the main shopping district for Bangkok’s young crowd. There are several large department stores, and hundreds of shops selling anything from clothing, shoes, leather goods, cosmetics, jewelry, mobile phone and general gift items. They also offer the latest in fashion designer goods. This area is also the major cinema destination where movies of all types, both Thai and foreign, can be enjoyed.

River City

Located next to Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotels, this is the ideal place for those interested in arts, crafts, and antiques. Here, you can find unique arts, paintings, portraits and antiques coming from all parts of Thailand and even abroad. On some occasions, art exhibitions and handicraft fairs are held. Auctions are also regularly held here.


Banglumphu / Kaosarn Road Area


This area is famous for its back-packer and lower income tourist accommodations. The famous place here is Kaosarn Road. This road is popular for back-packer tourists because it offers cheap guesthouses and inexpensive items. This road has been popular for decades. Word-of-mouth from tourists has made it no wonder that Kaosarn Road has become so widely well known as a back-packer haven the world around.





If you want to escape from the busier parts of this area, you can walk through Kansan Road until Pra Athit Road is reached. Here, many nice, quiet coffee shops can be found. Pom Pra Arthit Park is also near. This is a popular place of respite for tired and weary tourists when, tired of walking, can sit and relax, read a book, and enjoy the scenic Chaopraya River along with its cool, gentle breezes.
